Effective from July 1, the 12 additional flights will serve five major Middle East cities including Kuwait, Amman, Damascus, Sanaa and Doha, and all additional flights will be serviced by the Airbus A330.
“The demand for services to these regional gateways has never been stronger. The Middle East is one of the only regions in the world expected to post passenger traffic growth in 2009 and this is reflected in our increased services,” Ahmed Khoory, Emirates’ Senior Vice-president, Gulf, Middle East & Iran, said.
“The Middle East continues to be one of Emirates’ most important markets. Connecting through Dubai, travellers from the region have direct, convenient access to nearly 100 destinations globally. These additional services will provide passengers with even greater choice when selecting their flight.”
Emirates will introduce two additional weekly flights to Kuwait, two additional weekly flights to Amman, three additional weekly flights to Damascus, four additional weekly flights to Doha and one additional flight to Sanaa, making it a daily service.
Khoory added: “With one of the largest fleets in the world, totalling 134 aircraft, Emirates has the capacity and the resources to connect the millions of people living in the Middle East with the rest of the world, comfortably and reliably. This is the third major increase in flights across the Middle East for Emirates this year and is testament to our resolve to offer travellers in the regionthe best possible connectivity.”
The additional flights bring the airline’s total weekly operation to 28 flights to Kuwait, 14 flights to Amman, 14 flights to Damascus, 32 flights to Doha and a daily flight to Sanaa.
Emirates has an extensive Middle East network and currently flies to 14 cities across the Middle East each week.
Further expanding its services globally, Emirates has this month commenced a daily service to San Francisco and Los Angeles. In addition to this, from June 1st the Emirates Airbus A380 will begin servicing Bangkok and Toronto and later in the year will service Seoul from December 1. This month has also seen the commencement of a daily A380 service to Sydney and Auckland.
