Resident accountants have to go to Dubai for the ICAI exams, while accountants here will obtain the certificates without leaving the country.
This was highlighted during the opening ceremony of the two-day GCC Regional Conference of Chartered Accountants that was opened on Friday.
Chartered accountants from around the Gulf are taking part to discuss the global financial crisis. The event is being organised by the Bahrain Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, under the patronage of Industry and Commerce Minister Dr. Hassan Fakhro.
