Sharaf DG Opens in Sharjah, More Stores Planned
DUBAI — Sharaf DG, one of the leading electronics retailers in the UAE, on Tuesday opened a new store in Sharjah. The company has also planned two more stores in the country this year, according to a top official of the company.
The new launch marks the retailer’s first entry into Sharjah and takes its tally of stores across the region
to nine.
The electronics retailer is preparing to open stores in Ajman and Abu Dhabi by the end of 2009.
“We are negotiating with some landlords in Abu Dhabi for a new retail store in addition to one we have at Abu Dhabi airport duty free shop,” Sharaf DG Managing Director Yasser Sharaf told Khaleej Times at the Sharjah launch.
Sharaf is optimistic about the current year performance of the retail market in general and is more than satisfied for about his own stores’ sales turnover. “Now it is more stabilised market in terms of sales and rising slowly,” he said and adding: “We can see a difference compared to two weeks ago,” he said.
“Our sales figures are better than the last year during the first five months because we are continuously expanding our network.” Sharaf added.
During the last seven months Sharaf DG opened new outlets at four locations including one in Bahrain.
“Sharaf DG has experienced tremendous success in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and recently in Bahrain, and we were looking for the right location and opportunity to launch in Sharjah for a while now,” Sharaf said.
“As a market for electronics & IT products, the emirate has matured with residents becoming more conscious about brands and service quality, which is good for Sharaf DG.”
He said, “Residents of Sharjah can be assured of a treat of the widest range of all the reputed world class brands at the best possible value in the market, which is synonymous with shopping at Sharaf DG.
The choice of Safeer Mall as Sharaf DG’s first address in Sharjah was made considering its strategic location along the busy Dubai-Sharjah highway, which ensures a steady flow of shoppers.”
In line with its previous store openings, Sharaf DG is launching with a series of store opening special offers across a wide range of products. The best of the picks on offer is a free 32 inch LG LCD with a Nikon 10 megapixel camera for only Dh1199 and a Motorola mobile for just Dh1 on purchase of any mobile worth Dh300 plus. These offers are for a limited period only till stocks last.
The store will also feature a revolutionary concept in retailing — the “touch and feel” display where real working models will be displayed in the open. The open display provides customers a hands-on experience of real models of cameras, mobile phones, MP3 players and other electronic gadgets to “test drive” before deciding their purchases.
