The summit will discuss the most pressing maritime security issues in the Middle East today and will highlight the latest strategies and solutions available. With 15 million barrels of oil passing through the Strait of Hormuz on a daily basis, the need to address maritime security has never been greater. The US Department of Energy will also be present at the summit, with Jimmie L Collins, Programme Manager for Cooperative Border Security, addressing core border security challenges and discussing strategies to ensure safe and secure borders.

“Given the increasing threats facing governments and the private sector, as evidenced by the kidnapping of the Saudi oil tanker and the Mumbai atrocities, it has never been more important to address maritime security,” says Jinanda Sheth, Director of MENA Maritime Security & Coastal Surveillance Middle East 2009. The summit will also explore the latest in cutting-edge technologies in maritime domain awareness.
