Nasser Hamza’s wish is to sing to Fazza (Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai). Mohammed Arwani's dream is to be a weather reporter. Alois Guillerm’s passion is Victorian fashion. Anoushka Tandon has an interest in ramp shows and wants to be a Youtuber. And Dinal Ekanayake likes horse riding, athletics, sailing, singing, football, tennis and basketball.

They are children of determination but they are no different than any one of us. In fact, they are special.

And to make their wishes and dreams come true, Rising Stars, an initiative founded by Rahima Amiraly, couldn’t have asked for better support than two-time boxing champion Amir Khan.

Amir, who was recently named the president of the newly formed World Boxing Council Middle East, has lent more than a supporting hand for this special initiative that was launched in January.

The Rising Stars will be collaborating with WBC Cares and the Amir Khan Foundation, which the boxer runs, to help these children achieve their dreams.

And the 34-year-old, a regular visitor to Dubai and who plans to make the city his home, came calling and spent time with them on Monday. The meet and greet was titled: ‘When the stars meet the champion.”

“We want to definitely develop your talent. We want to showcase what you guys are. We want to show the world and show Dubai that you guys are champions. You guys are the real champions and I’m going to be in your corner,” Amir told the children.

“I love to be a part of this through the Amir Khan Foundation and WBC Cares, which I’m now the president of in the UAE and Rising Stars founded by Rahima. She has done an amazing thing, helping people who have disabilities, who are struggling to take part in events. So, this is where we come into it. We want to come and help you guys to get to events. We have a little boxer here, maybe some more of you could do some boxing,” he added.

And he had a very important message for them.

“Chase your dream and never ever give up. Even on days when I lost fights, I was so down, I was so upset, but I never gave up. I kept pushing, pushing,” said Amir.

Meanwhile, Rahima, who has been a special needs teacher for 15 years now, said she was excited that Amir Khan had come on board.

“We are really excited to collaborate with the fantastic Amir Khan who is supporting our stars to achieve their dreams,” said Rahima.

“It is so important to make children of determination feel included and become the rising stars they want to be,” added the British-Pakistani, who has made Dubai her home over the last eight years.
