Action during the match between Amity and AUS.

Winning the toss at the Fairgrounds Oval, Amity University elected to bat first as Neeraj Maxwell and Jay Joshi went all guns blazing. Jay Joshi raced to 28 in just 14 balls but a loss in concentration resulted in him losing his wicket.

Maxwell (38) continued playing sensibly as Amity reached 124 in 20 overs.

With the batting line up AUS possesses, chasing 125 was expected to be a cake-walk in the park but they hadn’t prepared for the surprise element in the form of leg-spinner Mohammed Azharuddin. The match had tilted in Amity’s favour after a sensational spin bowling combination of Jay Joshi and Azharuddin. Azharuddin teased and tempted the AUS batsman as he picked up 5 for just 10 runs. Musaab Khalid came in and batted with his head on his shoulders as got his team right back into contention.

Musaab Khalid couldn’t bat through till the 20th over and that ended all hopes of AUS getting to the target. AUS fell short by 16 runs as they were all out for 108. Mohd Azharuddin was declared the player of the match for his match winning bowling performance.
