DPS-S teams advance

Action on the opening day in the senior boys basketball championships at DPS-Sharjah on Wednesday.

Hosts Delhi Private School-Sharjah (DPS-S) launched their 2013 Sundeep Batavia and international sports fest campaigns in superb fashion on Wednesday.

In the basketball tourney where Indian and Kuwait sides are taking part, DPS-S defeated Our Own High School Al Warqa’a 61-30 in the under 19 boys event.

Point guard and versatile Karun Kumar Mehra scored the bulk of the points for the home lads with 18 points and he was well assisted by Bilal 13, Abraham 10 and Prateek 9.

Defending champions DPS-S trounced DPS-Dubai 52-3 in the girls division. For the home team, Vedika scored 20 points and Dyutika added 14 in the point bank.

In the under 12 boys T20 cricket championship at the all-turf facility at the school venue, DPS-S defeated Our Own High School Al Warqa’a by 3 wickets.
