The SWS Ramadan Challenge at the Dubai Kartdrome will take place over three rounds, two races per round, on the evenings of 27 July, 3 August and 10 August.
The SWS Ramadan Challenge is in keeping with traditions in the UAE of holding sporting events during the evenings of the holy month, and with interest for such a series high among the leisure karting community, the three round series was conceptualized and is now a reality.
Kartdrome manager Ryan Trutch said: “The SWS arrive and drive format of racing is very popular and the drivers have been pushing for such a series for some years. We have managed to create six round series over three race nights at the Kartdrome. We have also included some exciting prizes, while ensuring that the series also counts for the prestigious SWS W-Series global ranking.”
Race nights will start with sign on at 10pm followed by drivers briefing at 22.30pm with combined 15 minutes practice and qualifying at 22.55pm.
This is followed by two 15 lap races starting at 23.35pm and 20 minutes past midnight respectively – these to be followed by prize giving afterwards.
Points will be awarded for each race which will then be tallied up after all 12 races and the winners awarded the prizes accordingly.
Entries will open on 4 June and can be made through the www.dubaiautodrome.com website on the bespoke Ramadan Challenge page. A maximum of 20 drivers will be accommodated for each round. www.dubaiautodrome.com is he website to visit for details.
