Syrian President Bashar Al Assad prayed on Monday at a mosque in a Damascus suburb that had been a major symbol of the uprising against him until it was evacuated by rebel fighters and their families last month.
Assad visited the city of Daraya, southwest of Damascus, on the occasion of Eid Al Adha. The surrender of Daraya to government forces marked a significant blow to the five-year-long rebellion against Assad.
