Dubai residents and tourists will again enjoy treats from around the world as Global Village opens its doors for its 23rd Season on Tuesday.
"This season we enhanced the entire park for greater thrills and a refreshed experience. We enter a world of exploration, filled with adventures and fun for the whole family as we host even more exciting events and huge international shows to entertain our guests," Global Village CEO Bader Anwahi said at a press conference on Sunday.
Anwahi added that a cultural extravaganza, under the theme "Explore, Experience, Enjoy. This Way!" awaits the visitors in the 159-day long season that will run until April 6, 2019.
This year, 27 pavilions, representing 78 countries, will reflect some of the world's most beautiful landmarks and showcase the heritage of countries including the UAE, Saudi, India, Jordan, Pakistan, Europe, Americas, Bosnia & Balkans, Thailand, Bahrain, Lebanon, Palestine, Afghanistan, Syria, Russia, Japan, Far East, China, Africa, Egypt, Morocco, Turkey Iran, Yemen, Kuwait. There will also be an Al Sanaa pavilion run by the Ministry of Human Development along with Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation pavilion.
Celebrating Emirati culture is also at the center of the Global Village and this year the Emirati cultural zone has been expanded to host festivals featuring the best of Emirati culture and craftsmanship.
Park management said kids will find plenty of new, fun-filled attractions and activities on offer this season, including a dedicated interactive theater, hosting a variety of events and workshops for children.
A popular attraction called Carnaval is back with six new rides, 100 video games and an enlarged interactive gaming area. There are also 31 rides for children and families and more than 30 games of skill on offer.
Moreover, the "Wheel of the World" has been redesigned to feature a huge 50-meter LED screen for live scenes, shows and views of Dubai.
For those who would like to enjoy strolling around while enjoying the cool nights, the multi-purpose walkway has been enhanced with new green spaces and additional seating areas for families to enjoy some panoramic views.
New bridges were also built over the lakes for better access around the park. There are also dancing fountains with fire and water show.
Leading performers from around the world will also be performing on Fridays with a series of 23 concerts by artists such as Jason Derulo, Elissa, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Neha Kakkar, Mohammed Munir, Rabeh Saqer, and more.
