The Abu Dhabi Police have warned residents against illegal use of fireworks during Eid Al Adha holidays.
The warning is part of Abu Dhabi Police's 'Your Security is Our Happiness' initiative and is in line with its efforts to enhance residents' awareness of preventive measures to protect them from risks and promote safety.
Brigadier Salem Hamoud Al Baloushi, director of the firearms and explosives department at Abu Dhabi Police, called on parents to monitor their children and to prevent them from the use of fireworks or firecrackers during the Eid holidays.
He also urged youngsters and the general public to refrain from use of fireworks and all other practices that may lead to material losses, environmental pollution, or fires and put the safety of the community and property at risk.
"Fireworks can potentially cause physical damage as well as environmental pollution," said Al Baloushi.
"The fireworks can spark fires and thus threaten the safety of the members of the community and their property."
