Newly opened in Al Ruqah Al Hamra, the used cars market has been shifted from Abu Shagara, to many residents' relief.
The Sharjah Municipality has said that all the used cars shops have been shifted to the new market, which opened on January 14, 2016.
His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah officially opened the Sharjah used car market called 'Souq Al Haraj.'
The new market is located between the Sharjah International Airport and the Sharjah Free Zone. It accommodates stores selling auto spare parts and accessories. It is the largest in MENA region that also has the auction hall.
The owners of used cars showrooms also welcomed the announcement. Finally old cars have a spot in the market that is properly planned place for them. It's clean, modern façade makes it look like new cars showrooms.
Issam Hassan, manager of Nile used cars showroom, said the completion of the new used car market is the only solution to protect the business. "This is a residential area in which more than 500 used cars showrooms are doing business. The residents are suffering and the showroom owners are losing money. (If parked illegally), the municipality tows away cars and fines us Dh500 and Dh300 as recovery fees."
