Spain's Carolina Marin during is a hot favourite here in Dubai.
World Championship. Tick. All England Championship. Tick. European Championships. Tick. Olympics. Tick. Dubai BWF World Superseries Finals is one box which Carolina Marin would like to tick when the tournament's ninth edition plays out at the Hamdan Sports Complex over the next five days.
The 23-year-old Spaniard has had a trophy-laden career so far with she also accomplishing her long held goal of winning gold at the Olympics. Now, since that has been done, Marin is training her eyes on the Dubai showpiece, the one piece of silverware missing from her trophy cabinet.
"It is one of many tournaments that I want to win," Marin told the Khaleej Times after a practice session at the Hamdan Sports Complex on Tuesday.
"I'm very happy to be in Dubai for one more year. It is my second year here in Dubai and I'm looking forward to doing my best and to enjoy the tournament. It is going to be very tough because the top eight best players in the world are here and let's see what will happen.
But of course I will try to do my best," she added. And Marin, who hails from Madrid, spoke in glowing terms about the Superseries Finals in Dubai.
"The Superseries Finals is an amazing tournament because we are just the eight top players in the world and it is at the top level. And of course, you have to do your best to win this tournament. And it is always very nice to be here in Dubai because the crowd is amazing as well as the organisation of the tournament is nice," said Marin.
Each arena has different aspects when it comes to play and Marin felt the conditons here were really good. "The condtions are good. You have to be careful with the wind and also because it is a big hall and the conditions are different. Let's see what will happen. Of course, you have to come up with a strategy in these conditions," the left-hander said.
