UAE: Impounded vehicles to be sold on November 21 if not claimed, Sharjah authority says

Vehicles that have been impounded for more than six months will be sold in an auction on November 21 if not claimed, Sharjah City Municipality announced on Monday.

Owners of vehicles, machinery, and motorcycles that have not yet started the procedure of retrieving their vehicles to do so, were urged to do it as soon as possible.

The Municipality, in a post on Instagram and X, said that owners are "requested to approach the Inspection and Control Department, Industrial Area 5, within 4 days from the date of publishing this notice to rectify the reasons for impoundment".

Vehicle impoundments, which is usually imposed along with a heavy fine and black points, falls among the list of heftier penalties in the UAE. Under this, vehicles are either impounded at a provided location. During this period, the vehicle is not to be used.

The penalty may be imposed in case of serious violations that can range from jumping signals to modifying cars to increase noise.
