Road violators in Sharjah can begin settling their dues as the four month relief period—starting from today and ending on August 7 — will allow them to pay reduced fees on accumulated traffic fines.
Major General Humaid Mohammed Al Hudaidi said that all concerned departments of Sharjah Police have taken the necessary action to facilitate payment of violations as the number of motorists availing of the new initiative will increase during the coming days.
The idea to implement the reduced fines was originally put forward by the General Directorate of Sharjah Police, which was approved by the Executive Council.
Those who have received fines related to municipality violations, such as parking in municipality designated lots, cannot avail of the 50 per cent reduction during the next four months.
He called on drivers to avail themselves of this opportunity and pay their fines before the deadline ends, as this decision was made to reduce financial burdens as per the instructions of the government.
According to the ministerial decree issued by Lt-General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, traffic departments in all emirates are allowed to offer a discount of up to 50 per cent on traffic fines.
To pay your traffic fine, visit any of the Sharjah Police stations or the equipment and driving licensing department of Sharjah Police.
