The residents of Sharjah may now enjoy a number of new service roads and parking spaces at the Sahaba mosque.
According to a senior official with the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the much-needed service roads and parking spaces stand at about Dh2,300,000.
"The 400m service roads and 174 additional parking spaces, meant for public convenience at the busy Samnan area, will give a boost to traffic flow as well," said Eng. Sheikha Al Zuwein, contract manager at RTA Sharjah.
The new service roads consist of one lane that is five meters wide and 400m long, she explained.
"These are added to 174 parking spaces of interlock at all the area adjacent to the mosque, let alone the other necessary development and service works," she stated.
"The 288 parking spaces will meet the needs of the big number of worshipers at the major mosque, mainly on Fridays and at Funeral prayers."
The new service roads and parking spaces, meant to enhance public safety and security, are in line with the directions of His Highness Dr. Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, he underlined.
"The road development, being done as per the highest international standards, will give a boost to the performance of the road and the entire road network of the emirate for the benefit of the public.
