The Sharjah Police have launched a one-week pedestrian campaign, aimed at securing the lives of many residents crossing the roads.
Police said the campaign, which was launched on May 5 and would continue until May 12, was aimed at creating awareness on safe crossing through brochures in different languages.
The brochures urged pedestrians to only cross at designated areas and ensure no traffic was coming from either side, before crossing the road.
The campaign would also create awareness amongst motorists to give priority to pedestrians crossing roads and reduce speed in areas frequented by pedestrians, especially along internal roads in residential areas.
