Celebrating the UAE Flag Day, Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), will hoist the UAE flag at the entrance of the Union Metro Station in the presence of CEOs, Directors, and scores of employees.
Al Tayer stated that the Union station was selected as a venue for the celebrations as "it fits the bill in a symbolic reference to the union; a key pillar of the UAE's prosperity, unity, and development," he said.
"November 3 each year will remain a prominent day in our lives that has been engraved in our hearts by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who opened for us the way to express our belonging to a peace-loving nation.
The UAE flag is a symbol of our pride as a competent state among civilized nations. November will also remain a month to remember, as it has been crowned with the Martyr Day on November 30th.
It is meant to be a day for honouring the precious blood shed by the sons of our land to maintain the Arab dignity."
Al Tayer will also place the last piece in an artistic design replicating the UAE flag in the Union Met ro Station comprising 146,000 pieces of Lego. Such artistic design has been accomplished by a British artist aided by a bunch of RTA employees and visitors of the station.
Moaza Saeed Al Marri, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication, Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector, RTA, said: "Events of the Day also include wrapping six public transport means in the UAE flag: three buses of different designs, in addition to one abra, one water taxi, and one Dubai Ferry."
Al Marri added that 45 cabs will be wrapped in the UAE flag, and 20,000 brochures with models of UAE flag, will also be distributed at the metro and bus stations.
The event is intended to raise the awareness of the public of how to properly use the flag, and the civilised practices that ought to be adhered to in dealing with the UAE flag.
