Sharjah: The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority is to block two lanes of the Al Ittihad Roadopposite the Ansar Mall in the direction of Dubai for 10 days for maintenance work.

According to a top official, the move is part of its programme to repair and develop all roads of the emirate.

'The partial closure of the road will start from 11 pm to 5 am all the week long except on Friday and Saturday,' said Eng Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Al Hajiri, Director of Sharjah RTA for Roads Affairs.

All motorists and drivers are urged to be cautious on the road and abide by the speed limit and traffic signs for road users’ safety and theirs, he underscored. 'The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority is all set boost the quality of all roads of the emirate as per the latest international specifications.'

Eng Al Hajiri said all road and transport projects are designed to accommodate current and future needs of urban expansion in the region, enhance traffic flow, and raise the standard of living of residents therein.

'The authority is dedicated to improve the quality of roads to cope with the underway plans for urban development and economic and tourism, as well as the steady increase of population and the movement of transport.'

Road projects in the emirate, in line with the directives of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, are closely followed by Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
