Hot on the heels (or should that be wheels?) of Sharjah's first drive-in cinema opening at Madar at Aljada from 8pm this evening (July 1), Abu Dhabi is the latest UAE city to get in on the action as Reel Cinemas and Yas Marina Circuit have announced a screen will be launching on July 9.
With Vox Cinemas in Dubai beginning the trend for car-based movie watching at Mall of The Emirates back in May, the capital's newest addition looks to set to cash -in on the increased appetite for completely socially-distanced cinema experiences.

Over the weekends- Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays - 65 cars will be able to view blockbusters starting with 2015's Mad Max: Fury Road on July 9, followed by last year's Joker on July 10 and Crazy Rich Asians (2018) on the Saturday.
As with its contemporaries, Yas' drive-in will enforce a two-person per vehicle limit. Prices are likely to be similar to Reel Cinemas' offerings at The Dubai Mall and Dubai Hills Estates - around Dhs170 - which includes the requisite host of drinks and snacks. Tickets will go on sale from Thursday, July 2.
