Abu Dhabi Police urge increased awareness about the dangers of narcotics.
Abu Dhabi Police seized a total of 1.5 tons of drugs and over 1.2 million narcotic pills in multiple drug operations in 2019.
The Directorate of Narcotics Control in Abu Dhabi Police's Criminal Sector affirmed its continued interest in pursuing and arresting illegal drug traffickers and exposing their methods.
They have affirmed that the smuggling and pushing of drugs is considered organized crime internationally, run by criminal gangs. Many of these gangs' efforts were foiled by Abu Dhabi Police this year, with cooperation from local, regional and international police forces.
Abu Dhabi Police have urged intensifying efforts to raise awareness of the issue among the youth. They pointed out that drug control is a social responsibility, with the family being the first line of defence against drug abuse in young people.
The Directorate of Narcotics Control has called on community members to collaborate with police and report any information related to drug activity to the number 800 26 26.
