Fire fighters of Ajman civil defense controlled a massive fire that broke out during the early hours of yesterday in three rubber warehouses in the new industrial area. No causalities have been reported.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Brigadier Mohamed Ali al-Suwaidi, deputy director of Ajman civil defense, said that the fire initially erupted at one of the warehouses, but due to wind and inflammable materials, it spread to the other two warehouses and gutted everything.
He lauded the efficiency and prompt response of civil defense who reached the site in less than five minutes.
Fire fighters from Ajman fire stations - including Al Jarf and Industrial and Rumaila - contained the fire with support of civil defense of Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain as well as the Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) and Municipality. They all coordinated to extinguish the fire in a short time. The cooling operation continued till this morning.
After completion of the cooling operation, the site was handed over to the Ajman police, which started its investigation to find out the reasons that caused the blaze.
He urged all factory owners, workshops and warehouses to adhere to set standards as well as security and safety procedures to prevent such massive fires which could result in loss to lives and destroy public property, while polluting the environment.
