Eid is certainly a joyful time. However, for some residents in the capital, this year it was just a little extra special. Because this Eid marked the day their first child was born.
Over 20 babies were born on the first day of Eid at Abu Dhabi's Corniche Hospital, with baby Mahara being the first. Speaking to Khaleej Times, Mahara's mother, Fatema Al Mazrouie, said the experience of giving birth on the first day of Eid is something she will forever hold deep within her heart.
"It was a very special experience for all of us," she said. "Eid is already a special day for our family, but to also have a baby on this day is a beautiful gift from God."
Al Mazrouie noted that many mothers go through a lot of pain during their labour and delivery. Her experience on the other hand, was different.
"The day before Eid was the day of Arafah, and we believe that all prayers on this day are answered. So I really prayed for a quick and safe delivery and that is what I received," she added, with excitement.
The 21-year-old pointed out that her dream of having a family has finally came true. "This is my first baby and she was born on a special day like Eid. I'm already enjoying motherhood, it feels exciting, peaceful and beautiful."
Other proud parents, who got to welcome a new bundle of joy on Eid, included Sarah Akhter. The mother, who gave birth to a baby boy that she named Mohammed, said this is certainly an extraordinary time for her family.
Akher noted that although it was somewhat of a surprise to have her boy on Eid, it is nevertheless exceptionally special for her. "We feel blessed to receive such a wonderful surprise on this blessed day of Eid Al Ahda," she added.
Linda Anne Clark, CEO, Corniche Hospital, said that welcoming little ones on Eid certainly was remarkable for both parents, as well as the staff. The day provided somewhat of a blissful atmosphere for those at the hospital.
"We feel pleased to be part of the happiness of so many families on this sacred day of Eid Al Ahda," she noted.- jasmine@khaleejtimes.com
