Khaleej Times published on August 30 a report titled, "19 on trial over record 2,500 kg drug haul".
The story detailed the names of the gang members some of whom have businesses in the UAE, including the mastermind of the crime identified as Amir Azam Sheikh Mohammed.
Based on the official records and documents of the case, the news item mentioned that the accused was living in a villa in the Emirates Hills and that he owns Exotic Cars showroom.
It is important to clarify that the said showroom belonged to the suspect at the time when the details of the case unfolded in December 2005.
Later the showroom was sold to another person (Ali Mohsen) who in turn sold it to Arif Ibrahim Mohammed Al Tamimi who registered the Exotic Cars showroom in his name at the Dubai Economic Development Department under licence number 547493 dated June 26, four months after the arrest of the suspect in front of his house at 11.10pm on February 9.
In a letter sent to Khaleej Times, businessman Al Tamimi clarified that Exotic Cars no more belongs to the suspect and that the present owner has no relation with the accused and that he had bought the showroom from another person.
