A 46-year-old Indian vendor, who inappropriately touched a four-year-old girl in a grocery, has been charged in the court with molestation.
The Indian vendor claimed during the questioning that he was tempted by the devil.
However, he did not attend the hearing on Sunday in the Court of First Instance.
The arrest was made on November 26, 2016 shortly after the incident took place in Hatta.
The girl, an Emirati, said she went with her friend to the grocery near her parents' house to buy some juice.
"I was near the freezer when he touched me. I slapped him on the face."
The little girl ran out and directly informed her mother.
She showed the investigators how the man touched her.
She underwent a psychological examination by a specialist at the Family and Juvenile Prosecution. That investigation concluded that the state she was in,  suggested she was probably molested by the defendant.
When arrested and confronted with the girl's statement, the defendant admitted he did touch her twice, claiming the devil tempted him to do that.
The court adjourned the trial to January 29.
