Wrong parking in residential areas will incur a fine up to Dh500, the Sharjah Municipality has warned. Meanwhile, the Sharjah Municipality has intensified an inspection and awareness campaign to put an end to the misuse of public parking in residential areas. Besides issuing the fines for violators, the municipality will oblige the violators to immediately rectify the situation.
During the campaign, the municipality also issued fines for those who left their car in open areas for long time without cleaning them, which officials say will distort public view of the city.
Riyad Al Ellan, Director-General of Sharjah Municipality said the municipality will continue its drive through social media, adding that SMS messages have been sent to thousands of resident. The municipality will also distribute 500 pamphlets to highlight negative effect of violations.
Omar Al Sharji, Director of Public Services at the municipality said that in December 2015 inspectors issued fines for 468 vehicles found parked over concrete side walk and issued warning to 136 heavy trucks found parked in the residential area. Al Sharji said the municipality's main objective is to preserve the beauty of the city and ensure public safety.
