Capital Christmas celebrations saw Christians offer prayers in churches and hold family get-together's on Sunday.
Thousands, attended the day-long masses at St Joseph's Catholic Cathedral, which was the main congregation point on the day. Christmas cribs, trees, stars and decors added glitz to the festive spirits at St Joseph's. There were jingles and DJ music that filled the air. Most of the cathedrals in the city had held Christmas mass on Saturday night and were closed on Sunday. Faithfuls thronged the cathedral from 4am onwards. The cathedral had asked its followers to invite people who are lonesome and join the festivities.
"This is for those who have no family or friends. People from workers' accommodations too came here to revel in festivities," Mervin Thomas, a church-goer, said.
Sunday being a working day saw lesser crowd in malls. It was family get-together that marked the day.
