Dubai cops on horses catch car thief in 25 minutes

Dubai - The car theft was reported in the emirate's Al Sabkha area.

As soon as they learnt that a man drove off with a stolen vehicle, two Dubai cops on horseback galloped into action and within 25 minutes arrested the suspect and recovered the car.
The two officers of the Dubai Mounted Police, Nawaf Hasan Khalfan and Muhammad Sheikh Abdullah, were lauded for their rapid response. In less than half an hour, they managed to investigate the crime scene, search for the vehicle, identify the suspect, and catch him red-handed.
Brigadier Expert Mohammad Al Adhb, director of the Dubai Mounted Police Station, said the car theft attempt was reported in the emirate's Al Sabkha area, which was covered by the Naif Police Station. 
"The command and control centre circulated an arrest notice, with the vehicle's information and the suspect's description, to all on-field patrols, which immediately started searching and sweeping the area," Al Adhb said.
"Thanks to the swift response of two officers of the Mounted Police unit, they managed to find an African man who fit the profile and behaved suspiciously."
Officers Khalfan and Abdullah pulled him over and checked his ID, as well as the car's documents. Upon verifying that it was the stolen vehicle, the man was apprehended and the car was retrieved, Al Adhb added.  
Expert Major-General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, assistant commander-in-chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs at Dubai Police, praised the efforts of the two mounted cops.
Their achievement affirms the Dubai Police's determination to rapidly respond to emergencies and crime and ensure perpetrators are brought to justice, Maj-Gen Al Mansouri said.
