Transport authorities have announced the resumption of three Dubai-Sharjah bus services. Two of the routes started on Sunday, while the third will resume two weeks later.
Bus services had resumed in Dubai and Sharjah weeks after they were suspended as a precautionary measure against the spread of Covid-19. However, the vital intercity buses between Dubai and Sharjah remained suspended. On Sunday, the Roads and Transport Authorities in Dubai and Sharjah announced resumption of the services with strict precautionary measures in place.
Adel Shakri, director of Planning and Business Development, Public Transport Agency, Dubai RTA, said: "The first of the three routes, E303, starts from the Union Metro Station in Dubai and heads to Al Jubail Bus Station in Sharjah. The second route, E307A, starts from
Abu Hail Metro Station in Dubai and heads to Al Jubail Bus Station in Sharjah."
These two routes have already resumed. The third route, E315, will start from the Etisalat Metro Station in Dubai and head to Al Muwaileh Bus Station.
"The three routes are vital for the integration of public transport networks between Dubai and Sharjah. These routes are transitional to riders returning to Sharjah - starting their journey from three Metro stations in Dubai (Union, Abu Hail and Etisalat). They will ease the mobility of commuters between the two Emirates, especially those living in Sharjah and working in Dubai," Shakri added.
The official urged riders to comply with the precautionary measures in place such as physical distancing. He reminded residents that mask use is mandatory for everyone.
Sharjah's RTA had announced earlier that it resumed its intercity bus services at 50 per cent capacity from September 15. Jubail Bus Station was reopened on the same day.
