The human rights department of the Dubai Police is planning to organise awareness campaigns and coordinate with concerned authorities to prevent students from using social media in the schools.
Several parents complained to the human rights department of Dubai Police that they have learnt about their children using social media in schools. They said their kids use Facebook, Snapchat and other social sites unmonitored at school, when these websites have nothing to do with education. Brigadier Dr Mohammed Al Murr, director of the general department of human rights, said that the parents want schools to monitor students at school.
"It is worrying for the parents as many of them do not allow their kids to access these website from home but at school they go unchecked," Brig. Al Murr said.
He said that the human rights department launched several awareness campaigns for schools and the addiction of children to Internet has a negative affect on their academic achievements.
