Fifteen beauty salons caught using expired products

Abu Dhabi - The inspectors from Al Shahama Municipal Center have issued warnings to 15 parlours and salons that were caught red-handed, selling expired, banned and anonymous cosmetic materials, which pose risks to community members.

Fifteen salons and beauty parlours in and around Al Shahama area in the capital were found involved in using expired products and failing to maintain hygienic conditions besides other offences.
Many beauty parlours were not complying with the health and hygiene standards laid down by the Abu Dhabi City Municipality to ensure the health of the consumers.
Several of them were using anonymous cosmetic products posing health risks to the users, while many were using expired products. During the campaign, the Municipality found the offending parlours involved in malpractices which were incompatible with the health standards.

The Abu Dhabi City Municipality had launched inspection campaign against beauty parlours and salons to check whether they were complying with hygiene and sanitation conditions and meeting other requirements.
The one-week campaign had a host of objectives highlighted by showcasing the Municipality's keenness to mandate owners of parlours to comply with health standards.
The move reflects the commitment of the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport as well as the Abu Dhabi City Municipality to enforce health standards in all facilities that directly impact the health of community members.
The campaign comes as part of the Municipality's plan aimed at enforcing health stipulations on commercial activities, including cosmetics sale outlets in view of their direct impact on the health of community, besides verifying the conformity of these activities with the specifications adopted in Abu Dhabi in trading and storing these items.
In conjunction with this inspection campaign, the Municipality has carried out an educational and awareness campaign targeting employees in these facilities and offered guidance to shop owners.
Al Shahama Municipal Center will carry out similar campaigns in all areas within its jurisdiction as a commitment to ensure the safety of all community members and preserve public health.
