With the early trends of the Indian election results showing a massive saffron sweep for the ruling BJP-led National Democratic Alliance across the country, jubilant Indian expats in the UAE have welcomed the mandate saying 'India has won."
"India will be the next world power under Narendra Modi. Corruption will be wiped off and the poor people will prosper under Modi. He has cut across the caste and religious divide and proved to be a people's leader," said B.R . Shetty, Founder of NMC Healthcare.
"I am sure world leaders - Presidents, Prime Ministers and kings will be happy that India has a stable government. Modi's win is great news for Indian expatriates as the India-UAE relationship has touched a new high."
"We have already seen what Narendra Modi is capable of doing in the last five years. In the new term, free healthcare will be provided to all people, and I have been handpicked by the PM to deliver quality healthcare services to people," said Shetty.
Annu Chouraria, President of the Indian Ladies Association said, "Modi Ji is a visionary leader. I am sure he will rewrite history once again after 2019 election."
"Let us be clear that any alliance done with the purpose to defeat the democratic rights is senseless and useless. They may fight with the people, but not for the people. With Modiji's return, its homecoming of new dreams, aspirations and hopes for NRIs."
Abu Dhabi-based Kumar D. from state of Punjab hailed the massive lead the BJP has across India.
"The pan-India wave you see is acceptance of Narendra Modi's development agenda. People have voted for those who take positive steps. The BJP hasn't done well in Punjab as the party allied with Shiromani Akali Dal. If party had gone alone, it would have been better. There's a long way to go. The BJP will improve in Punjab. Anyhow, this verdict bodes well for the future of India."
Deepak Kumar Dash from Odisha said the verdict will be trigger further growth in the country.
"People this time have shown maturity. They have analysed various national and international issues. People have backed those who talked about positive future and development. There is no room for negative politics. People have analysed work done by the BJP in the country and the BJD at state level. Politicians across party lines should understand the peoples' mandate and introspect. Let's hope for a better India for us and our children."
Some expats hoped that the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance will introspect to revive in the country.
Prakash Thampy is elated with the Congress sweeping his home state of Kerala and hopes the grand old party will find a cure to tackle the BJP's growing stronghold.
"There should be a collective leadership. Carrying the party forward isn't just the responsibility of the Nehru-Gandhi family. More leaders like Rahul Gandhi should be nurtured. There are many capable minds in the party. Leaders like Shashi Tharoor should be elevated in party ranks."
Blasting the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance), Thampy said: "Marriage of convenience seen in past few months isn't healthy for India's democracy."
