The Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) has ceased the registration of new or transferring students to private schools that received 'poor' or 'very poor' performance rankings in its school inspection report.
Twenty-six schools across three regional offices (Abu Dhabi, Al Ain region, and Al Dhafrah region) were officially informed about the decision in March 2017.
Hamad Al Dhaheri, Adec's executive director of private schools and quality assurance sector, pointed out that the decision shall remain in place until the schools receive at least 'satisfactory' performance levels in the next inspection cycle. Al Dhaheri stressed that these schools should take "serious action" to reform their education process in order to meet the Adec's expectations and requirements.
As part of the Irtiqa'a inspection programme, the Adec provides schools with detailed reports that highlight the weaknesses in performance. Schools are also required to provide improvement plans and performance development strategies.
