A police corporal allegedly threatened to kill another police officer if he reported his alcohol abuse to the authorities.
The 43-year-old Yemeni corporal is accused of threatening to kill a 54-year-old Iranian police sergeant with a knife and destroy his house if he informed the police about him. He is charged with making criminal threats, verbal abuse and using alcohol without a licence. He denied the charges of threat and insult at the Court of First Instance. The case dates back to August 7.
The complainant said he was sleeping in the barracks of the police station in Al Rafaa around 3.30pm when the accused entered the room. "I went to the bathroom then he started insulting my parents. I called the police when he threatened to kill me." The sergeant caught the corporal before he could flee the place.
Though the corporal refused to give a urine sample for test, he later admitted to drinking alcohol. The trial will resume on December 6.
