Work on major infrastructure projects, which include new roads and drainage improvements, is on full swing in Ajman, and most of them will be completed by year-end and early 2019.
A top official of Ajman Municipality said Dh230 million worth of projects had been implemented from 2017 to 2018 to build several new roads and expand others in the areas of Naimiya, Hileu and Muweihat.
The municipality had also finished a Dh150-million drainage project in Naimiya, along with the construction of 26km and 33km internal roads in the same area, the official added. New roads in Halwi and Muweihat, on the other hand, are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
While easing traffic flow and addressing waterlogging are top priorities, the municipality has also been developing new electronic and smart systems to enhance public service. Eco-friendly initiatives are part of its agenda, too, the official said.
"The municipality will continue to implement projects that bring happiness to the emirate's residents and visitors. We will always strive to provide safe and convenient roads for all," he said.
Through its projects, the municipality is also aiming to attract investors from around the world and raise the emirate's profile as a tourist destination.
