Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, today launched the Dubai Fitness Challenge, as part of the Opening Weekend Carnival at Al Safa Park in Dubai.
The 30-day fitness challenge involves physical and sporting activities and includes the participation of many community members and groups, in the light of the keen desire of various departments, authorities and educational institutions, as well as individuals, to promote exercise.
Sheikh Hamdan expressed his happiness at the large turnout, the response of the people of Dubai, and the participation of a wide segment of the local society from all ages in the challenge, to make Dubai one of the most active cities in the world.

"I am happy to see this enthusiasm and preparedness in participating in the fitness challenge. The aim of the event is to educate people on the importance of sports and its positive effect on the health of people. I wish that our people would continue exercising, with the same enthusiasm, after the end of the fitness challenge," Sheikh Hamdan said.
Sheikh Hamdan's participation in the fitness challenge began at the carnival at Safa Park on Friday, which was packed with an all-star line-up, to inspire both residents and visitors to start their journey of fitness.

The opening ceremony was attended by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA; Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, RTA; Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director-General of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, DTCM, and Saeed Hareb, General Secretary of the Dubai Sports Council.
