Tracing a leaving certificate or any document from old records from India for most NRIs is not only a nightmare but quiet a time consuming process, "Not really, we can have it delivered to you in 48 hours and that too online!" quips Narendra Kumar, director of operations, India, Orion System Integrators, who was recently on his visit to the UAE.
The company has digitised the entire records of Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, or CISCE board which conducts Indian Certificate of Secondary Education, or ICSE, and the Indian School Certificate, or ISC, in India.
And now, they want to replicate their India success in the UAE.
"Orion India Systems, wholly owned subsidiary of US-based Orion System Integrators, is now eyeing the UAE to expand its footprint and is currently in talks with various entities in GCC," Kumar added.
The company recently participated in World Education Summit organised in the UAE and promoted its solutions in education sector to digitise the entire documentation from new admissions, school certificates, evaluating exams among various other solutions.
The company is optimisitc about its growth in Dubai in various verticals apart from education. "We sniff the opportunities in the education institutions and infrastructure management using our innovative capabilities and solutions. We have received a lot of enquirers in UAE and other countries including India, UK, Canada and Srilanka."
There are about 2,050 private schools in India that are affiliated to the CISCE. There are 174 ICSE schools in Maharashtra, of which 87 are in Mumbai. For the last few years, the ICSE has been trying to improve its examination process and has introduced many changes, including changes in the marking pattern from 50:50 to 70:30 for certain subjects.
Innovation
Evaluators assessing the 2016 board examination papers of the ICSE, and ISC, will enter scores for every question in a grid on the answer script using a Live Ink Character Recognition, or LICR, pen in a designated spot. The marks entered on the answer script is displayed on a tab and verified by the evaluators. It then goes straight to the CISCE server, reducing a lot of paper work. Over 2.3 lakh candidates are expected to write the ICSE and ISC examinations in 2016, which will be using this technology.
