The Sharjah Municipality will convert two city zones, including streets in Al Khalidiya and Al Khan areas, into paid parking effective from Tuesday (January 16).
Ali Abu Ghaziin, director of public parking department at the municipality, said that this move is aimed at providing regular parking areas for residents and prevent exploitation of parking spaces in these areas.
He explained that the implementation of a paid parking system in these areas comes within the framework of the municipality's continuous efforts to organize public parking and develop solutions to deal with the problems caused due to lack of available parking.
The step will contribute towards curbing illegal and negative phenomenon such as blocking the cars, roads, and parking in unauthorized areas, and occupying of parking space for a long period of time.
