“The embassy lawyer is now closely assisting the family in taking all necessary legal action to make sure justice is served,” the embassy said in the statement.

Daynolo, 30, worked as a receptionist at a hotel on Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi. She was last seen at the resort on March 4 last year — towards the end of her shift at around 10.30pm — according to a Facebook page and a website that her family had set up to find her.

Since she was reported missing in March 2020, the Philippine Embassy has been coordinating with the UAE authorities, the mission said.

The police found Daynolo’s body on January 19, the statement added. “The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi is in close coordination with the family and the Abu Dhabi authorities on the ongoing criminal investigation surrounding the death of Ms Daynolo.”
