Universal Hospital, one of the leading multispecialty hospitals based in the capital, announced a two-week long dedicated campaign towards improving the urinary and kidney problems commonly found in the region.
The "Uro Care Campaign" was inaugurated by Milos Perisic, Ambassador of The Republic of Serbia to the UAE and P.K. Basheer, the current MLA of Ernad constituency in India. The campaign will be offering kidney function assessment, which will also detect any stone and prevent it from developing further.
Kidney stones are one of the most painful and common medical conditions which can happen at any age, and can also pass into the urinary tract causing further health complications. Our kidneys are also susceptible to other diseases wherein waste products and fluid can build up in the body, causing vomiting, weakness, shortness of breath, loss of kidney function, etc. The campaign, initiated by Universal Hospital's Urology Team, hopes to act early on the basis of the screening tests as early detection is at times the only way to save the kidneys.
To add to the benefits of being examined at the tertiary care facility, the expert urologists will also be providing screening for men who are 45-years-old and above. "We will also be adding clinical examination of the prostate gland for men. This is an excellent opportunity to get screened for prostate cancer, one of the most prevalent cancers among men worldwide. If detected early, we can treat prostate cancer, urinary infection, and hematuria (blood in urine) easily," commented Dr Osama Farouk Al Harastani, specialist - Urology at Universal Hospital. If required, Dr AlHarastani and his team will also include prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test and uroflowmetry to determine the condition of the prostate gland.
The "Uro Care Campaign" started on March 20 and will continue until April 3, 2016. Both walk-in and booked patients are welcome to avail the free check-up by the Specialists at Wellness Tower B, 11th Floor, between 9.00am to 9.00pm. The radiology department will also be available for imaging on the same floor.
Depending on the test results, the patients can be referred to more specialized Departments related to their concern area(s). According to Dr. Shabeer Nellikode, Managing Director of the Hospital, "Through such campaigns, we pledge our dedication to serving our community's medical needs better. They are a way of giving back to the people by providing an easy, one-stop consultation with Specialists to reduce the risks associated with most diseases." He also added that Universal Hospital will be launching a full-fledged Diabetic Campaign along with vision tests and a Cardiology Campaign in the coming months. With the enthusiasm and compassion which his team of caregivers displays, these wellness campaigns are sure to benefit people from all walks of life and ages.
