The fire broke out at a wood factory at 2.32pm, according to authorities.
They said a cooling operation is underway to ensure that the fire does not start again.
Firefighters described the blaze as ‘moderate’. Teams from four civil defence stations — Al Rashidiya, Nad Al Shiba, Port Saaed and Al Qusais — brought it under control within 50 minutes after it was reported at 2.32pm.
Photos and videos captured by Khaleej Times journalists showed thick plumes of black smoke rising from the burning factory.
