The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) on Sunday morning reported a hailstorm at the Al Tawain area in Ras Al Khaimah where it has been raining non-stop for a couple of days.
The NCM, on Saturday, January 11, predicted 'freezing rain or snow' over some of the UAE mountain peaks on Sunday, January 12.
"The weather intensity will weaken by today, but there is a chance of rainfall over northern and eastern areas."
"There has been a hailstorm here," Mohammed Ibrahim, an Emirati national, told Khaleej Times.
Another resident, Abdullah Al Hammadi, said that there was a thunderstorm and lightning kept striking all night, which was followed by heavy rain and a hailstorm.
