Young creative social media influencers from the Arab world presented unique performances at 'The Stage' on the first day of the Arab Social Media Influencers Summit (ASMIS). 'The Stage' is a special platform created for young influencers to showcase their talent at the Summit.
'Acapella' musical duo Mohammed Rubat and Rakan Bu Khalid presented a stunning musical performance of cartoon theme songs on the first day of the Summit. 'Acapella' is a purely vocal form of music performed without any instruments. The performance by Rubat and Bu Khalid recreated cartoon theme songs with vocally mimicked instrumental music.
By creating instrumental sound effects generated purely from their voices, the two artists have captured the imagination of young audiences in the region.  Videos of their 'acapella' music have brought them a sizeable fan following on social media. The artists' video posts have been noted for offering new creative ways of entertaining and spreading positive messages on social media in the Arab world.
In the second performance of the day, Ibrahim Abdulrahman delivered a stand-up comedy performance on themes related to Arab traditions. The young artist, who refuses to be called a comedian, shared the story of his social media journey. He urged creative personalities and social media influencers to be responsible in the way they discuss issues, even when performing comedy.
Held under the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum,   Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the second edition of the Arab Social Media Influencers Summit (ASMIS) is being organised by Dubai Press Club. Held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 13 to 14 December, 2016, the event features prominent regional and international social media influencers and experts. The Summit provides a forum for social media influencers from across the Arab world to interact directly with the public and showcase their talents.
From education to health to human development, sessions at the Summit cover a wide range of positive and constructive topics that are shared across social networking sites, within an Arab context. This year's edition aims to generate innovative ideas to promote the positive impact of social media platforms.
