The Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) has recently hosted a group of children from the BDF Officers Club as part of its summer programme.
The visit was held in line with Bapco’s continued commitment towards the society and towards developing the youth, enabling them to benefit from an enriching learning experience through their summer programme.The children were taken on a tour of the company’s facilities, and given a presentation on Bapco’s operations before visiting the Dar Al Naft (oil museum) to learn about the history of oil in the kingdom. They were also shown company’s sporting facilities.
ASRY signs $8.6m deal for desalination plant
ASRY, the leading ship and rig repair yard in the Arabian Gulf, has signed a contract for the completion of a reverse osmosis sea water desalination plant.The agreement, worth $8.6 million, was signed recently at ASRY headquarters by all concerned parties. The desalination plant, previously managed by GEMSIL Aquatech Services, had an initial production capacity of 3,000 tonnes per day, however, under Gulf Marketing House’s new guidance, the capacity will be increased to 7000-tonnes-per-day. Spanish firm, ENOXA has been contacted to supply all technical resources and equipment required for the upgrade and commission of the plant.
Gulf Air launches new onboard channel
Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, announced the launch of a new onboard channel called “Helwa Ya Bahrain at a joint Press conference held at the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland,.
The channel will add another feather to the airline’s already popular inflight entertainment programmes. The channel will showcase Bahraini productions and will also feature a health programme focussing on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures.
Available onboard all Gulf Air flights starting from September 1, Helwa Ya Bahrain will initially have two sets of programmes: the popular Bahraini TV show Sawalef Tafash and Bahrain Health, a programme with a variety of instructional features. The CPR video features famous Bahrain footballers: Humood Sultan and Mohammed Salmeen along with RCSI Bahrain Community engagement volunteers.
BAC obtains aerodrome certification
Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the managing and operating body of Bahrain International Airport (BIA), celebrated the renewal of the aerodrome certification from the Ministry of Transportation’s Civil Aviation Affairs (CAA). The chief executive officer, Mohammed Al Binfalah, received the certificate at a meeting held with the acting Undersecretary for Civil Aviation Affairs, Ahmed Al Nemah at the CAA headquarter.
The aerodrome certificate endorses the airport’s compliance with the Bahrain Aerodrome Standards and Certification Regulations, CAR 001, and fulfils the standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). The certificate is valid for five years.
