Dubai-Bali Emirates flights disrupted by volcanic ash

Dubai - On Thursday, the outgoing Dubai-Bali flight will now take off at 8 PM, and a return flight scheduled from Bali will now take off on Friday, November 6, at 10:45 AM local time.

Emirates flights to Bali are being disrupted because of volcanic ash being spewed into the sky by a volcano on the nearby island of Lombok in Indonesia.
"On 3rd November, Emirates flight EK398 from Dubai to Bali was diverted to Jakarta (CGK) due to the closure of the airport in Bali," an Emirates spokesperson said.
"Crew and passengers remained in Jakarta overnight. All passengers were accommodated in hotels and a revised schedule has been published for their recovery from Jakarta to Bali when the airport reopens."
Emirates Flight EK398, which was scheduled to leave Dubai on Wednesday at 8:50 AM, was delayed for a total of eight hours before finally taking off for Bali's Denpasar Airport at 5 PM.
On Thursday, the outgoing Dubai-Bali flight will now take off at 8 PM, and a return flight scheduled from Bali will now take off on Friday, November 6, at 10:45 AM local time.

"We are closely monitoring the situation. We apologize for any inconvenience. The safety of our crew and passengers are our top priority," the spokesperson added.  
Reuters has quoted local officials in Bali as saying that a total of 692 flights to and from the island have been cancelled because of the ash coming from Mount Rinjani on Lombok.
In July, thousands of passengers were stranded in Bali because of similar volcanic activity on Mount Raung in nearby East Java, with Emirates flights reporting 10 hour delays.
