“Rangreza is very close to my heart. In Pakistan, our dramas are very famous because of our content and stories. This story is about a qawwal and a rock star. Rihanna inspired me to get into this character,” said Ghana while talking to City Times in Dubai.
Ghana, who counts Konkona Sen Sharma, Vidya Balan, and Kangana Ranaut as her favourite actors, is clear that she would rather be a good actor than being someone who just chases fame. “I don’t want to follow the trend. I want to set the trend. I am here to be an actor and not just to get fame. My approach is to become a character actor. I don’t want to become just a glam doll. I might just shave my head or not wear makeup at all( if a role demands). I want to do something different.”
Katrina Kaif’s character in Namastey London triggered her desire to get into acting, “Namastey London inspired me to get into acting. I love Katrina Kaif’s get up in the movie. I was obsessed with movies, television series and acting since I was a kid.”
She looks up to Saba Qamar and Mahira Khar in the Pakistani film industry. “In Pakistan, it is not a revival and but an arrival of female-oriented movies and dramas. We have amazing actors like Saba Qamar and Mahira Khan doing great work in our industry.”
Ghana has done a lot of work in Pakistani TV series and counts her television drama Besharam as her favourite so far. “I really enjoyed working on Besharam. I played a bubbly girl who was in love with her cousin and aspired to become a model.”
I want to say thank you to Suhail (Galadari) for having me here, making all this possible and having faith in my work. I really look up to you and best of luck for the future. I want to say thank you to Khaleej Times - you are doing great.
