A court in Kenya's Nairobi sentenced a food vendor to three years imprisonment for selling samosas stuffed with cats' meat.
The court gave the accused man the choice to pay a fine of $3,000 or to serve the jail term, Al Ittihad reported on Tuesday.
Customers of the popular, widely demanded snack caught the accused vendor red-handed while he was slaughtering a cat. They assaulted him before the police intervened to save him from the angry customers.
The convicted man told the Broadcasting Corporation of Kenya that, since 2012, he had killed over 1,000 cats to use their meat to make samosa.
