The region's first Korean Cultural Centre opened its doors to general public in the Capital. Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister for Culture and Knowledge Development, inaugurated the centre in a ceremony at Abu Dhabi Media Zone or twofour54 Abu Dhabi.
The centre houses a permanent exhibition of items that represent Korean culture, such as Hangul Korean alphabets, Hanbok traditional clothing, Hanok Korean house and food.
The Korean Cultural Centre presents a variety of contents to the visitors with interactive elements, including cultural treasures, hologram displays, Hanbok's virtual fitting, a virtual centre screening of media, art and video communication, a media library, exhibition of multiple convergence contents, and media art projecting Korean cuisine in the Korean halal food zone.
It is open for public from Sunday to Thursday from 9am-6pm.
Present on the occasion were Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of State for the Federal National Council Affairs and chairwoman of the Media Zone Authority and twofour54; Maryam Al Mheiri, acting CEO of twofour54; Kwon Haeryong, ambassador of Korea; and Park Younggoog, deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea.
She said the launch of this centre illustrates the common goals of both nations to grow tolerance, cultural acceptance and openness, as an avenue to further unlock doors of learning, knowledge exchange and business interaction.
"The centre will help to build awareness and understanding of Korean practices and history and will serve as a learning resource for kids and adults alike to engage in Korean culture," the minister said.
