A farmer was killed and eight other people injured in various road accidents in Dubai this week. Colonel Jamal Al Banai, Acting Director of the Traffic Department, said the first accident occurred on Sunday at 9.30am on Al Rabat road, when a heavy truck deviated from the road heading in Bur Dubai direction, overturned and hit a farmer, killing him on the spot.
The second accident took place at Mazaraee at 4.30pm the same day, when a car hit the road barriers, overturned, and caught fire. The driver sustained serious injuries.
In two accidents that happened on Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed road, the first saw a motorcyclist seriously injured when he hit a vehicle going in Sharjah direction. Another person was also seriously injured when he was run over by a speeding car. Col Banai said that five other people sustained serious injuries when the van carrying them hit concrete road barriers on Shaikh Zayed road at 6.30pm on Monday.
