1,000 kid jockeys will return home

DUBAI — Nearly 1,000 Pakistani camel jockey children will be repatriated to their home country in batches over a period of two months, said Pakistan's Ambassador to the UAE Air Marshal (retd) Syed Qaiser Hussain.

''The children have been rescued and are placed in camps monitored by Unicef, Abu Dhabi government, Pakistan Embassy and the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation,'' he said, adding the children would be sent back only after their papers are verified, as they have no passports. He said repatriating this big number would be his biggest achievement during his tenure in the UAE. He said the children would be provided with tickets and outpasses and put up in shelters in Pakistan till they are sent back to their respective homes or rehabilitated otherwise.
